ELAN Wales: Creatio creative power-stations Creatio 2001 - 2004 This weekend, see the launch of Creatio - creative power-stations, ELAN¹s new three-year transnational training and performance project. The aim is to address issues of exclusion and marginalisation through a programme of art as survival: activities are going to be taking place across Wales and Europe within an artistic framework that promotes true integration of races, gender, ability, culture and artistic languages. The training will be developed through two major operating centres in Wales and Italy and through a series of residencies set up in under-privileged and under-resourced areas. "We aim to develop a concept of training which is active, inspiring, and open to experimentation, rather than being just a passive acquisition of skills," says ELAN¹s artistic director Ms Firenza Guidi. "We want to explore longterm strategies for innovation and are working in partnership with a host of organisations to achieve our aims." The collaborating artists and insitutitions are: The Welsh College of Music and Drama (Cardiff); The National Youth Theatre of Wales; Festival Marea 2001, Comune di Fucecchio (Florence, Italy); Theatre du Nord (Lille, France); Cantabile 2 (Vordingberg, Denmark); Gog i Magog (Catalunya); Hvar Festival (Croatia); The Samuel Beckett Centre (Trinity College, Dublin); Theatre of Fire (Dublin); Sapce Cadets (Manchester); Chapter Arts Centre (Cardiff); CASAMAX (Cologne, Germany); Theater der Figur (Nenzing, Austria).
